Harold (“Hal”) E. Farling is a trial attorney with extensive experience in many areas of business litigation, including commercial contract disputes, trade secret litigation, restrictive covenant litigation, business tort litigation, real estate litigation, shareholder derivative and class actions, and product liability matters.  He has successfully handled numerous jury trials and appeals in state and federal court, as well as a variety of ADR proceedings, including arbitration and mediation.

Upon graduation from Case Western Reserve University in 1991, Mr. Farling practiced law at the international firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. (now known as Squire Patton Boggs) until he left in 2001 to join the litigation boutique firm of Kaufman & Cumberland Co., LPA, where he was elected a partner in the fall of 2001.  In 2002 Kaufman & Cumberland merged with Thompson Hine LLP, and Mr. Farling joined Thompson Hine as a partner.  In 2003 Mr. Farling co-founded the litigation boutique firm Kovach & Farling Co., LPA, where he practiced as a partner until founding the Law Office of Harold E. Farling, LLC in 2016.

Having practiced for twenty-five years at both large international firms and small boutique firms, Mr. Farling has experience in representing many different types of clients, including Fortune 100 companies, smaller businesses and individuals.  However, regardless of size or wealth, Mr. Farling prides himself on treating each client with the utmost respect and devoting full attention to each and every case.

Mr. Farling’s peers have bestowed upon him an “AV” rating, the highest rating accorded by Martindale-Hubbel.

Mr. Farling is admitted to practice in Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.

Mr. Farling is a graduate of Rocky River High School, received his B.A. from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and attained his J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University College of Law.  He lives in Rocky River, Ohio with his wife, Paige, and their son and two daughters.
